Problem

In May 2010, a volcano in Iceland named Eyjafjallajökull erupted sending up a huge ash cloud which shutdown all air travel between Europe and the United States for over a week. At the time my client, a member of a multinational corporations legal team was in the UK attending a company conference with many of her colleagues. When it became clear that the ash cloud was not going to clear within a couple of days, and needing to return home to their families, they engaged in a 36 hour trek by ferry and bus through France to Madrid and then by plane to Puerto Rico in order to get back to the East Coast of the US.

Solution

I created an illustration satirizing the "Survivor" reality TV show for the client. This was to be silkscreened onto T-shirts and given to the company employees who had suffered through their own reality TV-esque bonding experience.
